recurring change in form and flesh

(2012, 2 hour performance, archival footage on projection)

This piece is my interpretation of an apocalyptic dream world, depicted through the character's transition through the destroyed, yet ever-evolving world around her. Changing her from man to beast, she is forced to assimilate and traverse through three distinct worlds.

Teil I: The Sky is Falling

Part I is inspired from a dream that I had as a child. Standing in my parents garage, looking out at the sky, I watched the neighbor's house across the road as the world ended, with it's red, red sky.

Teil II: Mustard Gas Danse

From the fire's ashes rises strange smoke, yellow and sinister, blistering organs in quiet succession. God's fury has transformed into what would appear to be a lethal weapon of men. Architecture and man's petty conquests have become a distant memory. Now, eerie and desolate, they lie a forgotten ruin in a world consumed by fire, now still in pallid dust.

Teil III: Strange Creatures

After the gas has long since dissipated, our crumbled world remains intact, though is now changed and strange. Nature is again consuming the planet, but the surviving creatures are not what they had been. The woman is no longer human, but has evolved into half man, half bird, half beast; a man-bird-beast. Nature always has a way of taking over...
